After the bushfires that began on 7 January ravaged parts of Victoria, there are now countless Victorian families displaced, counting the cost of the fires. Many have lost everything, and as they count the cost of this tragedy, the generous spirit of the community is again shining through.

Last Monday, a semi-trailer left our Truganina DC in Melbourne carrying 28 pallets of donated items that would be delivered to Yea, Horsham and Tallangata. The much-needed personal care items, although a small gesture, will hopefully make for one less thing that impacted residents will have to worry about in the short term.

“We know in the broader scheme of things, this is just a small contribution, but hopefully one of value for recipients,” said Kym Aklan, State Logistics Manager, Victoria. “It’s a heartbreaking time for everyone who has been impacted, but we know that every little bit counts.”

Transport partners, Victorian Freight Services (VFS) also contributed by voluntarily delivering the 28 pallets for free.

“This was a wonderful gesture,” said Kym. “It really demonstrated the community spirit in action and highlighted how there are so many people out there that want to find a way to help.”

Christina Bolle, Head of Operations Planning, Commercial added. “This is a true testament to how we all come together as a country and as a state to support those in need. I am so incredibly grateful to all of you. Thank you!”
