We have today announced our first financial results since the successful merger with the Chemist Warehouse Group (CWG) for the full year ended 30 June 2025 (FY25), which illustrate the strong growth opportunities of the newly expanded company.
Highlights
- Normalised EBIT up 41.4% with Pro-forma Normalised EBIT of $903.4 million
- 20+ year growth profile continues as we reach 588 CW franchise stores across Australia
- 16 international stores added as retail network sales exceed A$1.0 billion in New Zealand
- Own brand strategy accelerated with launch of Wagner generics medicines in Nov. 2024
- Achieved like-for-like sales growth of 11% across the CW network
- Benefit from scale, with logistics costs down 11% per unit as volume distributed for the year exceeds 530 million units
- Synergy target upgraded to $100 million per annum.
A key highlight was the performance of the Chemist Warehouse retail network, with total retail network sales to customers for the 12-months up 14% to $10.3 billion. During this period, we saw the opening of 35 new Chemist Warehouse stores, which sustains the growth rates achieved over the last decade. And now with the Amcal and Discount Drug Stores brand a part of our broader retail group, we have 881 stores in Australia, with a further 86 stores internationally.
The reliability of our supply chain and logistics functions; and efficiencies derived are also keys to the success of these results. Our combined distribution centre network has successfully absorbed a 29% volume increase during the period. Through our 14 distribution centres across the country, we delivered around 532 million units over the 12-months, and logistics costs per unit were down 11%.
We are now a stronger and more integrated healthcare business – one with scale, capability, market reach and growth. We have just started the journey to fully realise the benefits of the merger, and an exciting future awaits us.
Changes to the business
As we continue to focus on delivering profitable growth, the decision has been made that over the next two years we will progressively close the Chemist Warehouse bricks and mortar stores in China. The Chinese market is still very important to us and will continue be serviced through our online channels.
Additionally, as you are aware, we recently made the decision to close our ePharmacy fulfilment centre in Preston, as well as distribution centres in South Guildford Western Australia and Port Adelaide in South Australia. The volume from these closures will be absorbed by our Canning Vale and Pooraka delivery centres and will help us meet our upgraded business synergies target.
